Statement on Personal Planning

At The Kids Village Nursery, we are committed to ensuring that every child receives high-quality, individualised care and support. In line with the Care Inspectorate’s guidance on personal planning and the Scottish Health and Social Care Standards, we create and maintain Personal Care Plans for every child attending our setting.

Why We Do Personal Plans

Personal Plans are essential in supporting the wellbeing, development, and rights of each child. They help us:

  • Understand and respond to each child’s unique needs, interests, and preferences.

  • Ensure continuity of care and consistent routines between home and nursery.

  • Foster a nurturing, respectful and inclusive environment, where children feel safe, valued and heard.

  • Support early identification and planning for any additional needs.

  • Fulfil our legal and professional duty to place the child and involve parents/carers as equal partners.

This is rooted in the principles of dignity and respect, compassion, wellbeing, and responsive care, as outlined in the Scottish Health and Social Care Standards.

How We Carry Out Personal Plans

  • A Personal Plan is developed in collaboration with parents and carers upon a child’s enrolment and is based on the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) wellbeing indicator (SHANARRI).

  • The plan includes key information such as care routines, health needs, preferences, development goals, and any relevant observations or assessments.

  • Each plan is reviewed every 6 months, or more frequently when a child’s needs change, with parents/carers fully involved in this process.

  • Our Early Years Practitioners are responsible for updating and implementing personal plans, ensuring that daily experiences and activities are responsive to each child’s needs.

  • All personal information is held securely and in accordance with GDPR and confidentiality policies.

Through our commitment to meaningful personal planning, we aim to nurture each child’s individuality, promote positive outcomes, and work in genuine partnership with families.
